This Mama’s New Favorite Spot: A Grocery Shopping Tale

I honestly can not stand how many different grocery stores we have in our area here.  We have Publix, Bi-Lo, Aldi, Trader Joes, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Sprouts Farmers Market, Lowes’ Grocery, Lidl, Walmart, Target… I mean I could go on, but you get the point.

Since I am always looking for something to do with my kid, I have taken her on many grocery shopping adventures in hopes to find the grocery store that #1: allows my money to go farthest, #2: is good quality, #3: has great service and staff and #4: incentivizes customers to bring reusable bags. I can gladly say that I have finally found my store.

The store is like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods got together and had a baby.  It is called, Sprouts Farmers Market.  Yep.  Good ole Sprouts is my jam.  I had never been to a Sprouts before and I’ve got to say – when comparing receipts and how much more I can get for my money, Sprouts has been fabulous.

I love that they have a wide variety of organic and regular produce. Their meat selection is also great! They have free-range organic chicken, grass-fed beef, natural beef, farm-fresh chicken, farm-fresh pork, freshly ground meats, and hand-crafted pork and chicken sausage. The seafood there I have confirmed is delivered up to six days a week from their approved vendor and fisheries who follow strict food safety and sourcing standards. Can we say awesome?!

They also have a salad bar, a great bakery section and an awesome snack section – think nuts, pretzels and seeds – that you can buy in bulk in the central part of the store. I’ve found getting my snacks from here, does save me a lot of money in the long run.

Not only does my money go farthest here, but the stuff I buy doesn’t go bad after 2-3 days.  It LASTS for 5-7 days, which is huge!  There is nothing more upsetting than throwing away something you weren’t able to use because it started to mold, rot or smell.

Another thing that I like is that the temptation to purchase bad products is much less here. They don’t sell Pepsi or Coke products and many of their snack options are store brand or simply cleaner options. Everything is organic or good for clean eating for the most part.  Even their own canned items, which I love to cook with, are great quality.

I am also a big fan of their staff, I nearly know them all by name now and they are always so sweet to me and my daughter.  They were also super helpful in the beginning when I didn’t know my way around the store quite yet.

With the trend about being better with using reusable bags and not plastic bags, I love that they reward you for bringing in your own reusable bags! It’s 50 cents off your grocery bill for every reusable bag you use. And, even better, this particular Sprouts accepts plastic bag donations and provides them to a charitable organization that uses those bags to create blankets for the homeless in our area. With winter coming around the corner, this warms my heart, as it not only helps those in need but it is also a creative solution to reuse those plastic bags!

So, if you haven’t checked your local Sprouts Farmers Market out yet, do so.  I hope that the one in your area is as nice as the one in ours.  For our family, it works great for our budget and overall health needs.

Till next time…this Mama is signing off…

Note: This is merely an opinion post based on my shopping experience in our area here in South Carolina. I am not getting paid by Sprouts Farmers Market to write this. I just really like their set up and had to share! Sharing is caring! 💕
